On Tuesday, January 30, B-Hive and the Luxembourg House of Financial Technology (LHoFT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow them to collaborate and cooperate through areas of mutual interest.
Ellen Thijs, Executive Program Manager of B-Hive, signed the MoU alongside Nasir Zubairi, CEO of the LHoFT, which states that both hubs mutually agree on the expediency of further cooperation in several areas, including a mutual exchange of trends, research and more.
The MoU was signed during Paris Fintech Forum 2018, an international event in the center of Paris where leaders of banks, insurers, telcos, regulators and fintechs from all over the world exchange thoughts on the future of their industry in the digital age.
Collaborating with the LHoFT is the next step in further strengthening our relationship with the Luxembourg financial services and fintech ecosystem. As Luxembourg has become a crucial fintech hub in Europe, it was natural for B-Hive and the LHoFT to agree upon further collaboration.
B-Hive is very proud to become part of the community. We will continue building on this and set up even more international business missions to the region to get the interaction open and active this year through our Roadshow, with the next stop being in Luxembourg on February 15.
This MoU will further strengthen both of the hubs’ networks, knowledge pool and innovation endeavors—we greatly look forward to working together.
Pierre Gramegna, Luxembourg Finance Minister: “Luxembourg and Belgium enjoy a profound friendship and have extensive ties in all fields. The agreement between B-Hive and the LHoFT will strengthen our relationship in the field of fintech and help foster important synergies between Belgian and Luxembourg players.”
Johan Van Overtveldt, Belgian Finance Minister: “I am very pleased that we can activate once more an old partnership between two founding members of the EU, Belgium and Luxembourg. I am convinced this cooperation on fintech and new technologies will strengthen the BeLux tech-for-fin ecosystem, giving a further boost to the economic development and prosperity of our region. By working together with LHoFT, we open up even more doors for tech-for-fin startups and scale-ups in the region for growth. I am very pleased we can facilitate the international matchmaking as a start for their business development.”
Nasir Zubairi, CEO of the LHoFT said, “This cooperation agreement with B-Hive and the LHoFT Foundation is the confirmation of the strong and trusted relationship between two core fintech hubs across Europe. The agreement seeks to cement the historical bond between Belgium and Luxembourg, valuing cooperation that is paramount to promote fintech in Europe.”
Ellen Thijs, Executive Program Manager of B-Hive added, “B-Hive is proud to collaborate with the LHoFT Foundation and work together on the expediency of further cooperation in several areas, including a mutual exchange of trends, research and more. We will continue to build upon this relationship on February 15 when a B-Hive delegation will visit Luxembourg and connect our community face-to-face with LHoFT’s community.”
